We spent Thanksgiving with Woody's family this year and went down to New Mexico! We had tons of fun! We made a thankful tree, ate some turkey, shopping, movie and played some minute to win it games!!

My mommy bought me a fancy camera for my graduation, and I have photoshop so I've decided to play "photographer" like playing house when you're little :)
These pictures are Woody's sister's family. I was supposed to take them, but was really sick that day so Woody took the pictures and I edited. Sometimes he likes to play photographer too

I was talking to a co-worker today she is having SO many trials, really anything you can think of:
- hospital bills up the wazoo
- pre-cancer surgery next week
- marital problems
- very stressful first year of teaching
It was so sad talking to her and hearing about all these not so good things going on. She grew up as a member, but has since left the church. I was so sad for her to be going through these things, without turning to her Heavenly Father. It made me truly thankful for my Lord and Savior, that I can always turn to Him. And for his Gospel that brings me so much joy in my life, and allows me to carry on through my trials. It also made me very grateful for my amazing husband. Yes we've had our tough times, and we definitely fight. But i am grateful we have never been "having issues". I am so grateful for a husband who forgives and forgets before I can even say sorry.
I love Christmas, the music, the lights, the parties, ALL of it!! I can definitely get caught up in all of the "show" of Christmas. It's important for us to all remember, that this is a time to celebrate Christ, to celebrate His birth and all the He did for us.
I hope we can all have a wonderful Christmas season filled with music, lights, parties, Christmas trees, goodies, and especially Christ's spirit.

I guess it's time to announce .......
that we are going.....
We couldn't be more excited. We've booked our plane tickets, and sent in a deposit for our cruise! We will fly into Venice first and spend a few days there,
then leave for our cruise where we will get to see some Greek Islands and Athens.
I think Woody might cry when we get to Greece, or pee his pants from excitement, I'll make sure to catch that first reaction on camera :)
I'm pretty excited too I never thought, in my wildest dreams, that we would go!

My friend Kim just got engaged!!!! I couldn't be happier. She is honestly one of the best friends I have ever had. Me and Kim are SO much alike, she was the one that I always went to when I needed a shoulder to cry on or to laugh ridiculously with :)
I met Kim up at Aspen Grove and she is the one who first introduced me to Woody because she dragged me over to his apartment. I love this girl so much and am so excited that she has found her one and only!! Congratulations Kim!
She is on the left ;)
I had my first observation and it went FABULOUS, not to toot my own horn, but really
The best thing they said to me was (well my favorite anyways), that they could tell that my students knew I loved and cared about them.. that's my goal!!
I picked up my birth control (is that too much info?) and I finally have an insurance that will cover some of it, thank havens!!!

It's been decided that..
1. If I had enough time I would re-do my entire classroom so it was Halloween colors for the month of October. I LOVE Halloween!!
2. Harry Potter and Halloween are friends. For some reason the Halloween mood came with a Harry Potter mood.
3. My kids will be spoiled. I can't even tell Woody no, whenever he wants anything I always let him buy it. Good thing he doesn't ever want a whole lot!
4. My body is retarded, even though I am EXHAUSTED I am having problems sleeping at night.
5. Did I mention that I love Halloween??
6. I need to do something with my hair.
That's all. School is cool!!

1. What came first, the kids, or the marriage?
I have a picture of me and Woody on my computer and one of my students saw it today (keep in mind that we have talked about Mr. Palmer TONS in my class)
and yes, of course it was a little girl
student: oh teacher, is that your booooyfriend?
Mrs. Palmer: Husband
student: so you have a boyfriend?!!
Mrs. Palmer: no darling, husband
Student: DO YOU HAVE ANY KIDS?!
Mrs. Palmer: nope no kids
Student: you can't be married if you don't have any kids!!!
Mrs. Palmer: actually, you get married before you have kids
2. Satan is real
I had a little girl give my T.A. a VERY snotty comment the other day so I had her stay in the class so we could have a chat, and we were discussing the problem and then she takes out this:
student: (very seriously) teacher, do you know who satan is?
Mrs. Palmer: yes I do
student: Satan made me do it
3. Brown vs. White
student: teacher, can a brown person marry a white person?
4. Teacher is all knowing
Student: teacher, I just can't find it
Mrs. Palmer: can't find what?
Student: my mom said it would be in here. Where is it?
Mrs. Palmer: where is what darling?
Student: she said that it's like from the bank like a receipt?
Mrs. Palmer: I'm sorry darling, I wish I could help you, but I am not sure what you are talking about. check your desk, and backpack and cubby....

So today I was eating lunch and grading papers when one of my fellow teachers brought a little boy to me...
He came in and as he came closer I could tell that his pants were wet.. hm...
Mrs. Palmer: Oh honey, what's wrong?
Little boy: Mrs. Palmer I was trying to come inside when I slipped and fell in a huge pile of water. And now it looks like I peed my pants, but really I didn't it was a pile of water.
(me thinking oh tragic he made it look like he peed his pants :(
Palmer: O that's alright. You know what, we'll just have you stand in front of the fan, and we'll get you dried off before anyone else comes back.
Boy: O good..... Yeah I was just trying to get in real fast because I had to go to the bathroom really bad and then I tripped and fell and I promise it's just water.
Palmer: ............... so, uh, do you still need to go the bathroom?
Boy: uhm... no not really
Palmer: O Ok...... Listen, I Promise that if you tell me I won't tell anyone, but I need to know, is that really water?
Boy: .... maybe not
He was so cute with his cover up story :) Don't worry he went home got cleaned up and came back with a fresh start
My students are funny here's two more:
Little Girl: " So at home I have this file...."
Pause, and looks at me really concerned,
"Do you know what a file is?"
After school today:
Little Girl: Oh Mrs. Palmer, you are just so lucky to have all this stuff!
How did you get all this stuff?
Mrs. Palmer: Oh, you know I bought it.
Little GIrl: you are just so lucky to have all these things AND you get to LIVE here
haha... although I feel like I live there I sure am glad that I don't!!!

One of my students wrote a story about me:
Once there was a teacher named Mrs. Palmer.
She was very nice to the students, but the students were mean to her.
So she took away all their pennies and some had to miss recess.
hahah too funny

We had a beach party today at school and it was SUPER DUPER fun! I loved being able to just hang out with the kids, to just have fun and not be worried about if we were learning or not :)
The kids were excited all day long, but we had a blast. Normally the students have to wear uniforms so it was fun to see them in some regular clothes today!
And then there were 25!! Aren't my kids super cute in their regular clothes?!
We had a slip and slide and it was pretty fun!!! My students made me go. They said, "If you do it, I'll do it". And I wanted them to have fun so of course I had to do the slip - n - slide so that they would :)

Well.. I did it! I survived my first week of school. I have had a pretty rough start this year and have only survived because my love Woody has done SO much for me.
My classroom this year was being built and was "completed" on the Saturday before school started. By completed I mean it had walls and carpets haha. I was still missing: a clock, intercom, air conditioning, sufficient lighting, I have a couple holes in the wall, my windows weren't painted on the bottom, no coat hangers, no desks...... well you get the idea. :)
So Saturday afternoon my family came up and we got the job done! We turned my space into a cute looking classroom. Well one of the things I was missing was my cabinets... so on Wednesday after school the cabinet people came and unfortunately took out my reading corner for my cabinets :(
So Friday after school Woody came up and helped rearrange my classroom again! I am still supposed to get furniture like coat hangers, desks, filing cabinet. And I have an extra bookshelf I need to get rid of, so hopefully all of these things will be fulfilled :)
Other than my lovely classroom! School is going great! My kids and I had a rough first day, but every day they are getting better for me!!
Friday I was sssooo tired and was just not ready for a long day. So when the kids came in I decided we all needed to have some fun... SO we have this little stick with a fish on it that we use to point to things and we decided to name our fish.
We came up with lots of ideas like
They even tried to get Mrs. Palmer in the mix, but I said there is only one Mrs. Palmer, I didn't want no fish named after me!
But the name that we came up with was.... Californiaespealadocious Wormy HAHAHHAHA my little boy said he got it off of a movie, so I'm sure it's supposed to be the long word from Mary Poppins, it was pretty close :)
We also earned some freeze dance by being extra good!
First Grade is hard work and I'm exhausted ALL THE TIME. But it's tons of fun and I already love it.

My Hubby is sooo cool
lately I have been major stressed. Stressed about starting school, teaching, and not having a classroom. Woody has been the best. He listens to me as I cry and whine about being stressed and then calms me down, makes lists with me of everything that I can do. He is just the best.
Today he went with me to run some errands, one of them to the teacher store. He loved it! He kept saying oo this is cute, you could get this. He helped me pick things out that would work for my theme, and gave me suggestions. And afterwards he said, this store is fun!
I just love him and am so grateful for him and how much he helps me and does everything he can to make my life easier.
Just thought you should know :)
for Brighton's birthday this year we bought him a T-ball and it was a total success!! He has gotten pretty good at it too
His birthday was a while ago, but it took me forever to upload the pictures so I decided to post them anyways
Welcome to my school!!! Wood went up with me on Saturday to drop off my bookcase and laminate some stuff so I had him take a quick picture of my new home away from home!
Good news: The new date for my classroom to be done is on the 22nd!! I sure hope it is :)
Friday, August 12, 2011
My sweet sister Shani had donated lots of things to my classroom, one being this lovely bookcase!! Well I decided it needed to be spruced up a bit! (P.S. that is an article of clothing hanging from the tree in the upper right hand corner... my neighbors are wishing for a clothes line)So I took some red painted and some paint bruises and a tarp :)
and painted!! And woody painted too! AND I wish I had stood farther away so you could get the effect of looking through the bookshelf at woody, o well I'm working on it!
And here is the final product! I think it looks good if I do say so myself. AND sorry for the shadows it was being very picky as to where it would stay standing.. it's stubborn
Monday, August 8, 2011
I can NOT believe that it's already August and school is starting sssoo soon! Today I went down to my school to drop off all of the stuff that Shani had donated to my classroom and to kind of get started with everything...
the good news: I got keys!! wad up! I can now enter the school when other people are not there, if I so desire!
the bad news: classroom is still being built and it looks the Saturday before school starts is when it'll be done..... if it doesn't rain.
SO I'm not really sure how to handle back to school night, not really sure how I'm going to get my classroom ready in one day, but nothing I can do!! So right now I'm trying to get stuff cut out and laminated and shop for all the things I need, that way it can just all be thrown together, wish me luck!!

Wood has been playing flag football with some of the boys from the ward and they just had their semi-final game! Sadly.. it did not end so well But I got to bring my fancy camera and try out my ZOOM lens! SHVEET! Well I learned that it's a lot harder than one may think, you have to ALWAYS be ready and focused on the person you want. I definitely did not watch as much of the game as I would like mostly I just tried to stay focus on Woody.. here are some of the end results:
This one I'll probably end up playing with in photoshop, but it turned out O.k.
Poor kid, couldn't keep up with my man
this is a pretty good one, if I do say so myself
this one isn't really in focus but he's got a cute smile
After spending almost the entire game with my eye in the lens I now appreciate why my mom did not like video recording or taking pictures of events because you really do not get to truly enjoy it! But the pictures are fun!!

I had my first ever experience of a real Pioneer Day Holiday. I have lived in Utah for 5 years now and I had NO idea that fireworks were included on Pioneer Day. for Pioneer day we spent some time with Wood's family and it was so fun because the Sneds got to come up and spend it with us too! Here are some pictures....
Us watching the fireworks
We had some fireworks that shot up G.I. Joe guys and they came down in parachutes and the boys LOVED them, so we went to buy some more and got this huge pack, that we thought had 35 G.I. Joes.... they turned out to be 35 sets of strings haha but the boys loved running around and collecting
Max and all his prizes
I love this picture, I think the color is perfect and little Max doing his trick with closed eyes and no legs is precious!! I am really loving my new camera
The boys loved riding their bikes so much that Woody wanted a turn too!!
